hi there,
you must boot from the installation disc
go to bios setup and change boot priority ti cd/dvd drive instead of hard disk
also disable sata /native mode
save and exit settings
insert the disk in drive upon restart it will boot from cd

but my system is hp pavillion version and it came with winodws vista os. now i want to install windows XP.
but it is not running when i am trying to install XP OS and also showing 'did not find any hard disks in the system' while booting cd.
so please give me a solution for my problem.
