Gateway laptop system restore harddrive nuked
Closed
Hello,
Trying to restore a gateway laptop MX6931 where I have nuked the hard drive. None of the suggested key sequences starts the boot from CD. This thing comes up, runs through the little bit of DOS and then if I have the Gateway system restore for xp in the cd rom, it will eventually go to a blank screen with a blinking cursor. If I do not have the system restore in the cd drive, it will run through those first lines of DOS and then end with a blinking cursor on the same screen.
It never gets to a C: prompt and will not boot from the system cd. I've tried all the key combinations of Alt and F10, F8 or even holding F8, F11. Nothing causes it to reinstall XP from the system cd.
Any ideas?
