I recently upgraded my family's desktop (FX530XM - http://www.gateway.com/product_spec.php?product_recid=529665345 to a Vista 32-bit operating system, because it needed a new OS. The computer has a lil' sticker on it that says "Compatible with Windows Vista," so I figured it'd be OK.

When I was finished updating all the drivers, I noticed that the sound output icon in the lower right was giving me a "No Audio Output Device is Installed" error. When I checked the device manager, it wasn't showing a sound device - ("Multimedia Audio Controller" is listed under "Other Devices" with the symbol saying that there are no device drivers.)

I went online to look for the device drivers for my sound card. (https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/search.html?ws=text#t=Downloads&sort=%40docdatetime%20descending&layout=table&q=Integrated%20Intel%C2%AE%20High%20Definition%20Audio The updated drivers for the sound card say that it only supports OS up to and including XP Professional. Needless to say, it didn't work right with Vista.

When the computer said it was compatible with Vista, did it lie to my face? Any suggestions?
