Hello,

My 4-year-old IBM Thinkpad R52 doesn't boot up. When I press power button, everything seems to start normally but the screen is blank. It started a couple of months ago. I have it checked - the technician told me that mobo might be broken. His advice was to press hard on the upper part of the keyboard near the joint of the monitor and the keyboard and it did work for a couple of months. But now that magic stops working. I just wonder what I could do with this?

Dear Sir,

Please check whether your 15 pin monitor cable is well plugged and also check the

power cable. Nevertheless make sure that the motherboard and graphic card is not

faulty. These also could result in the actual problem. Please confirm from where the

trouble is actually coming so that we can bring you any further help.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks. This time it happens after my computer hanged after I tried to put it on Stand by mode. When it hanged, I simply turned off the computer hoping that I could reboot again. When trying to reboot, the magic of pressing hard didn't work and I have been doing it for tens of time.

I think there is nothing wrong with the power cable. I'm not sure what you meant with 15 pin monitor cable. My computer is a laptop. Please let me know how to check if the motherboard and graphic card is faulty or not. And if the motherboard is broken, how should I fix it?

Thank you very much.
