Acer logon fault message

My newish Acer Aspire 5336 has today stopped me from logging on with a message "The User Profile Service service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded". I am stuck... Help

Dear Bertie,

Please consider logging on as administrator and hence have a system

restore on your computer. This will bring back the settings to a date

where you weren't having any problem with the accounts.
