Sims threes freezes my pc

Hello,

I have sims three and it has been working fine untill i downloaded the updated for the game then once it had finished i clicked on the sims three icon on my pc then my whole computer froze. Ctrl Alt Delete would'nt work i had to turn my pc off at the mains and try again. My pc works fine untill i click on the sims three icon. What should i do ?
