have these files been deleted from the wastebasket (recycle)
if not, just restore them.
either that try for a system restore. This will take your laptop back to a time before the problems arose ..... hopefully

system restore does not delete data files like your documents etc, it just puts the operating system back to the point it was at when that restore point was created.
