Hello,
My pc just got reformatted because of virus and I lost all my files. There are some meaningful pictures that I was about to save in a disc when I got back from my holiday but I transferred them all out into my pc before I went away. Do you think it is possible to get back my transferred pictures/deleted because I really don't have a backup. :(

Thanks.

Are these deleted photos on a memory card? I so, I would download a free program called RECUVA
https://filehippo.com/download_recuva/

If you just deleted the files then you should be able to recover you lost photos. Each new picture you have taken will destroy one or two of the previously deleted photos.

Good Luck

Thanks for letting me know that. I took six new pics just was trying to see if the card was really reading any of the data. So my chances are that 12 of the graduation pics are deleted and hoepfully not all of them. I hope this work and I get my pics!

Thank you SOOOO much! Just to let everyone know this is FREE to download, FREE to recover and FREE to save the recovered files onto your computer. It didn't recover 100% of my pictures, however, but I got back many more than I thought I would FOR FREE!

For those of you who aren't aware of what "format" means: On a PC or camera, when the hard drive or memory card is "formatted" there are two possible ways to do it: "Quick Format" usually just erases the file allocation table ("FAT") which the operating system uses to find the files. A full "format" writes blank data to all sectors.

RECUVA does a great job on "quick formatted" memory cards.

While it is possible to recover even from a full format, it is expensive, time-consuming, and bet left to the experts at the CIA and NSA. For personal photos, it would be less expensive to travel to the same vacation spot a second time and shoot the pics over again. That's obviously impossible for even pictures, such as weddings and graduations.
