Hello,
I am knew to this so here goes. I have an Acer Aspire 5610 laptop but know have a problem with black screen on boot up. When I boot up everything remains black screen but you can see faintly in the background POST, desktop etc. If I press the lid button to put into stanby it flashes and shows the screen open i.e. desktop but this only happens for a second. I have removed and reseated Ram, tried the suggestion from an earlier post i.e. take out ram, take out battery, hold start button for 60 secs etc but still screen will not show other than black and in the background desktop. I have looked at the hotkeys etc and all in correct function. I can using a torch open up various programs but using a torch for ever is not ideal is it. Any help please

You might have a problem with the cable connecting the screen to the motherboard or with the standby button itself. In any case it's a hardware problem that needs a service tech to repair.

Good Luck

Sure it could be either. But, only a PC Tech can safely open up the case and swap out components. You chance breaking more parts if you try to fix it yourself.
