I need to upgrade a friends computer with xp pro to SP2 but the windows is saying that the serial # is not genuine.   Without SP2, many programs won't work.   Is there any way around this?

Dear Kendom,

You won't be able to get it updated. The OS will be blocked while it gets updated for it is not a genuine copy. You should get through the following before getting updated:
