Modem problem

Hello,
I am asking a question about a problem I Have. I have a modem with one slot for an Ethernet cable and it is currently taken for the computer but I WANT TO SEE IF it will disrupt the connections if I remove the ethernet cable and put a new cable in the same slot for my ps3?

It should not cause any problems to switch cables. You can also buy a router and connect the two devices at the same time.
