My computer won't reconize my sandisk adapter

Hello,
I have a 8GB Sandisk chip for my blackberry storm and when i plasce my chip in the adapter and place it in the plug on my tower to the computer, my computer doesnt reconize it... What am i doing wrong? Nothing pops up on my home page, nothing will even load it... What do i do... I know my chip works because i print pictures at Wal-Mart all the time so... Whats the problem...
