Installing new software but no output

Hello,
i installed a new 1GB stick of ram into my computer i was told on the crucial website that my computer could have upto 2GB it currently has 256mb
the graphics card is quite close to the screen and when you open the clips for the ram it touches the graphics card
when i put it in and do the clips up and i go to turn it on the computer powers up but nothing comes up on then screen
help please !

First remove the new memory chips and restart the computer. You need to unplug the computer before removing the chips because some computers still have power applied to the memory when they are simply turned off. If that doesn't fix things - again unplug the PC and remove the video card and reinsert it. You may need to press a tab to unlock the card from its socket.
