Many new laptops have a SATA controller chip that is not supported by Windows XP and when you try to install XP you get a hard disk not found message. Some very advanced users have been able to "slipstream" the requires driver into a copy of the Windows XP CD. The priogram need to do the CD modifications is called "nlite". I suggest you Google these terms to find more information.
