My cd drive is not detecting my cd/dvd

Hello,
my cd drive is not detecting nay cd/dvd inserted through it, so, it is very hard for me to work in my lap without a cd drive. so please give me solution.

i have an HP Pavilion that has started doing the same thing. After all the steps through support, They told me I need to replace the dvd/cd disk drive. hope this helps.
