Hello,
I tried to do the answer of #10 on rundll32.exe not found, burt when I copy regedit.exe and paste to the desktop, when I selecte rename and type in regedit.com it makes the file regedit.com.exe. I cannot execute anything like control panel, Mcafee etc. Thanks in advance for your help. Not real computer savvy sorry if I'm not saying it the right way

Hello Bill,
In order to solve your problem I really need more info.
Could please send me a Hyjackthis log, first to ensure we are talking of a virus as you seem to say and then to identify the virus to prescribe the best remedy.
You download Hyjackthis from here:
http://free.antivirus.com/hijackthis/
Install and request a scan with save log. Copy the log and post it here.
I am curious to know why you found it necessary to do what you described in your question. What wa your goal?
Best regards
