Hello,
Let me try to shorthand this: Got Vundo trojan, could not remove. Put in valid xp disk, decided to stop installation after it had started and call microsoft to make sure i picked right option. Well looks like i managed to wipe out windows, when i tried to reload xp disk im getting corrupt or missing root file error, wont load. Decided to install a new hard drive and see what else i can screw up. XP wont install, cant validate cd for obvious reasons. Was told to use recovery disk instead and that would load and fix the issue. Problem is i dont have one. So is purchasing a xp recovery disk my only option here? Thanks!

Hello,
With all due respect... you are a champion!
Vundo can be removed very easily.
Anyhow, I suggest that you reinstall the first drive, erase it and install XP as if it was a brand new installation.
Best regards
