On my computer updating the device drive R229494.exe and updating the bios did not help. The problem existed from day one with my computer.
There is a very easy fix. Right click speakers on the task bar, click sounds, click the playback tab, right click on the speaker icon, select properties, click enhancemnets tab, then check 'Disable all enchancements'. Works fine then.
