Hello,

Will Windows 2000 pro run on a 64 mother board? I am running Windows 2000 on ASUS mother board that must be a 32 bit; I bought it before the 64 bit hardware was available.

My local techi store is has some 64 bit mother board/processor combos for sale at good discounts.
I am thinking of buying one, run the Windows 2000 for now and buy a 64 Windows OS later on when the prices have dropped.

I am I asking for trouble? Will I wind up with all of my apps not running on this platform?

thanks

Your 32 bit OS will work just fine with a 64 bit CPU and motherboard. I would not convert to a 64 bit version of VISTA or Win XP at this time. These 64 bit OS's have too many problems.

xpcman,

Thanks! Sometimes I get these ideas and discover that I didn't dig or think long enough before making the decision.

I went back to the AMD site late today. After running a number of searches for cross matches on the idea, I found 2 product descriptions and 2 or 3 architectural summaries that said the same.

Thanks again. It's good to know I wasn't out to lunch.
