my sony vaio screen wont work Closed

Question

i have sony vaio all in one desk top, the computer is working but the screen remains black, but i press the screen on/off switch on and off it comes on for about 3 seconds then goes off again. someone said the backlight is at fault and i will need a new screen. if thats the case will i need a whole new pc as my harddrive and screen are all one unit.

Configuration: Windows Vista / Safari 532.5

It might be the backlight or the inverter that powers the backlight or the video circuits on the motherboard.  These all-in-one computers need to be repaired at the manufacturer's  service center.  Does the Sony  have a video output jack for an external monitor?  You might be able to use an external monitor.
