Samsung J700i memory card capture error

Help! I realised quickly that the memory was terrible in the samsung j700i so i bought a memory card but I don't know how to even use it! I wanted to put some music in it, but it doesn't seem to exist, it says that my storage capacity is inefficient, if I try to take a picture it says 'capture error'! I don't know what to do, I am not a tecky and am so frustrated I want to throw the damn thing against the wall! All I want enough memory to put some pictures and music in the thing, I should have 2 gb in the memory card, but the phone doesn't seem to recognise it! Help!
