This worked for me when that happened, just follow these steps:
1. Plugin your ipod to a computer.
2. Start iTunes.
3. Hold sleep button and home button 30 seconds.
4. Your ipod's screen will have iTunes and a cable on it.
5. In iTunes push "Reset iPod"
