Missil A940LCD won't play, turns off...

my brother bought missil A940 at XS Cargo. Trying to get it working... does everything except play music. Go into music mode, press menu button, it says "loading", then simply turns off... ?

Connect to pc and update its firmware version .

okay, thanks. Is there any way i can do that on my mac, instead of dealing with the horrible software that it came with, on my brothers laptop?

can anyone give details on how to use the (buggy) software that came with it? I'm not even sure which app it is, but i think it's the one with a giant confusing interface that looks sort of like a spreadsheet. Also, does that software go out and find the firmware for you, or do you have to download it first? If that is the case, then where can it be found, because googling missil A940 brings up almost nothing.
