Hello,
When i boot up my PC (Compaq Evo D510 SFF- Win XP SP3) I briefly see the Win XP logo, after about 1 second the monitor (LG Flatron L1510s) goes blank, However the computer still boots as normal the power light on the monitor stays green indicating it too is still on. When i press the power button on the monitor and press again the display comes back on, again for only about a second, which is going through the boot sequence as normal. I have to do this switching on and off about 30-40 times, then as i go along the monitor will stay on for that little bit longer, eventually it will stay on.

This only happens at boot up, if i restart or log off the PC it will start as normal, it appears when i turn off all power (after finishing with PC) that this happens.

I have started in safe mode and uninstalled graphics card/Drivers,(Radeon 7000 ve) and re-installed and updated- No Effect.
The monitor is second hand, but looks faily new and maintained, connection cable is fine and secured in fixings, tried a spare with no change.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Hi sandeep, Its not a virus i have recently had the "facebook video virus" which totally wiped everything out, so i have installed new HDD, and had to re-install the OS- hence XP Black 3, it's basically XP but with a twist, incorporated into it is Vista!! Miles better faster, better looking. I got it off a friend of mine as i couldn't find my XP disk!!

p.s, i tried a CRT monitor as well, and same prob!!

Just to update on the monitor problem, I seem to have sorted it out after all this time.

The problem seemed to be the Brightness and Contrast! I turned both of them down on the monitor settings when i had a headache whilst on a game, Hey Presto when i next turned the system on it booted up fine and has done for 3 days on the run.
