Urgent help for pirate copy ov windows xp

i lent a friend my toshiba laptop , he informed me he had put a dodgey copy ov windows xp in and couldnt open it up to get on the net , i phoned windows and entered all the digits at the end a voice said pirate copy ... what do i do as it is broken ?

Hi there,

Was the key used a genuine one or got from internet?Please confirm information,if pirated key then you will not be able to get updates and browse successfully ,ill advise to purchase a genuine key online..
