No sound or audio. Closed

Question

Hi, 

A month ago, I reformatted the computer due to  errors in the system. For some reason, the computer now reads "No audio device" whenever I check "Sounds, Speech, and Audio", (despite the fact that my speakers light turns on). I am very frustrated, and have looked over everything. I even went onto the Microsoft website to download the audio system, but unfortunately it won't download. Please help! Thank you!

P.S. I use a Dell Microsoft XP.

which computer do you have is it dell or hp.....in case of HP go to hp website give ur computer name and num e.g HP compaq 5700 it would be written over ur CPU on a small sticker. there u can find the drivers... 

now in case of dell u have to find a driver cd for as it gives so many probs if u download it from the website.
