Windows XP can not see me USB memory

When I insert my USB memory stick in to my Windows XP laptop its brings up a icon (Safely remove hardware) but the USB is not seen in my computer under network drives...
does anyone have a solution to fix this issues???

Dear Mark,

Please consider plugging the USB drive in another USB port to see whether it is recognized then.
