Laptop wont come on

My friend has a Hp Pavilion laptop not sure what number it is or how old it is. She said is was on some site and the screen went black but she could hear the sounds coming out of the laptop. She then turned it off to see if she could get it to work and now all is does is flashes a blue light on the computer. It looks like a lightening bolt. but nothing starts up. Not the fan, nothing. Do any of you have any idea as to what this could be. its kinda like no power is getting to it at all...just that little blue light..
