No user icons to click on to load windows

Hello,
When I start my computer it goes to a screen that says to click on my user account icon but there are no icons to click. the only thing i can click on is turn off computer. hitting ctrl + alt + delete twice brings me to a log in prompt which asks for my password but i have never assigned a password for a user account. i just want to get past this screen so i can do a simple restore.
