Hello,

i have a weird virus ,
first it doesnt allow me to install anti viruses , i bought kaspersky for nothing .
it deletes the .exe files sometimes , but most importantly , when i plug in a usb device , i cant take any information from the pc to put it on an external drive , it always says that disk is write protected ( though its not )
so i cant even format the pc without loosing the data .
any expert advice ?

Greeting Zack,

That is a cute virus you have there! Where did you get it?:)))

Kidding aside, I suggest that you first try to remove the write protection:

1. Open Start Menu
2. Run, type regedit and press Enter, this will open the registry editor.
3. Navigate to the following path:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\StorageDevicePolicies

4. Double click the key WriteProtect in the right pane and set the value to 0 In the Value Data Box and press OK button

5.Exit Registry

6. Restart your computer and re-connect your USB pen drive on your computer.

If removing the write protection should fail...

1. Download UsbFix (El desaparecido & C_XX) on the desktop.

2. Connect data sources external to the PC (USB, external hard drive, SD card, etc ...) without opening them.
3. Double-click the program UsbFix on the desktop.

4. Choose Option 2 (Delete).

*The Desktop will disappear and restart the PC.

5.Upon restart, UsbFix scan your PC, let the tool work.

Please do let me know if that worked for you, if not, you will see that there is more than one way to skin a worm.

Good luck
