laptop stuck on a update screen Closed

Hello, 



Configuration: Windows XP / Firefox 3.6.3

My friend has a hp 530 laptop and he can't eve
 turn it off. it installed updates and the screen says configuring updates: stage 3 of 3 - 100% complete   do not turn off your computer.. it's been on that screen for a few hours.
How does he get past that, or reset so he can use it?

Hi there,

Remove the battery and reseat after few minutes and boot normally.
