Using the windows 7 key again

Hello,
I have installed Windows 7 Pro on my dell inspiron1525 laptop an year ago.Now i want to format my laptop.Can i use the same key of Windows7 on my laptop after formatting it?I have got the key in Microsoft student partner programme.

If you are using the same product key that came with the installation disc.
Then the answer is yes

If you completely reformat, mrigga's answer is right on for the CD do not retain information, just the hard disk.
