Hello, I want to be able to go on the internet while my son is on xbox live we have an ethernet cable going from the xbox to the modem and the modem only has one plugin can I get an adapter somewhere. 



Configuration: Windows XP / Internet Explorer 6.0

what you want is a switch or a router. If you are just switching the cord from the computer to the xbox all you need is a run of the mill router something like this https://www.newegg.ca/d-link-ebr-2310-10-100mbps/p/N82E16833127091 but you can get any type. they are usually pretty cheap.
