Flash Drive recognised as DVD/CD rom!

Hello all

This is going to sound really dumb...but I have had major problems with my DVD/CD rom drive not being recognised in MY Computer or in the device manager. I spend hours looking through forums for solutions, with no luck. Then I plugged a flash drive into my computer & it comes up in My Computer with the as "CD Drive E:" *sigh*. Is there anyway to fix this, as I can't load anything from a CD, I'm sure its something simple *cross-finger*.
