ACER Aspire One SD Card not working

Hello,
I am having the same issue with my Acer Aspire One. The 8 Gig SD CARD is not respoding, i got a continues blue screen. I am planing to do a reformat but i try before to declare the USB as a primary master disk to reformat the SD card from there. It didnt work. Since i also got an Dell Inspiron with SD card slot can i put the Acer SD card into my Dell slot card and reformart it ? The second issue is i dont have windows, so i am planning to install Ubuntu 10 on it ? Does anyone have try it before? I dont want to reformart it without any proof it could work ..
