Why is there no sound coming from my laptop?

Hello,
i have an HP laptop, and one day i turned on the laptop and the sound stopped working, though it was perfect not even ten hours before. There is no sound coming from the speakers or either headphone jack. I checked all the sound devices and they all said that the devices are enabled and working properly. The speakers are not muted and are turned up all the way. Thank you very much for any help you may provide.
