My laptop keyboard not working sometimes it works sometimes doesnt

What exactly does it do (or not do?). Does it not respond when you try to type...or give you odd characters....or??

i have a sony laptop whenever i type it works but if i try it very hard agn n agn it works n den it stops working..i have run the virus software plus cleaned the disc plzzz help
