Windows Live Messenger Video Call Closed

Question

Hello, 
When I make a Video Call on Windows Live Messenger, I can hear and see my contact, but my contact can't hear me, though she can see me fine. Next to my little box with me in it, it doesn't say my microphone is muted so I don't understand why it won't work. I thought maybe it's the computer I'm using, because when I'm on my brother's laptop my contact can hear me, but on the regular house computer she can't. Is there anyway to fix this? Please help!
Configuration: Windows XP / Firefox 3.6.6

Hi there,

Is your mic plugged to the correct port?or integrated in webcam?also check in sound properties if the microphone is not muted as well as volume lowered ,

my friend can't see me in the the version of msn but i can see her , how do i fix it
