Help virus or something like that

Hello,
i have xpsp2 I turned on today and no icons on desktop i could not access something i tried access task manager it gives me access deny its stand alone pc not part of domain how can i fix this problem its probably virus i need access hard disk to copy important folders or fix it without format it any advice plz

When you are part of a domain, instead of just clicking a picture to login or inputting a password, you have to use ctrl-alt-delete to bring up the login prompt. Your computer is NOT logging into windows for some reason. Either A) the startup is bogged down with too many programs, or B) your registry settings are messed up.

Try starting up in Safe Mode, you will be able to get into windows for sure this way, and get your important files out, then we can try to repair your login.
