V-moda Vibe ii not working properly with jack

So I bought a new pair of v-moda vibe ii headphones. They work great on my ipod and phone, but when I use them on my laptop the sound is all distorted and can half hear the music and half not. I tried out other pairs of headphones on the computer headphone jack and they sound fine. These vibe ii's have an integrated mic, and control button (for answering calls, stopping music playback, etc.) and this is the only thing I can think of causing the problem. Can anyone help me out?
