Hello,
Last night, my Gateway laptop (vista) caught one of those viruses disguised as an antivirus, blue-screened with dump, and now will not turn back on. When I try to turn it on, two lights come on (multiple discs, then a single disc), and the fan starts up, but 2-3 seconds later, they stop. I can hear the hard disk humming, but it's not doing anything. The screen never turns on.
I have tried unplugging the power cord, unplugging the battery(and plugging in the power cord), taking ram out and putting it back in, clearing dust from the fan, and so on.
Any ideas how to fix it?

These symptoms suggest a hardware problem rather than a virus.
Good Luck
