Top buttons on keyboard for studio won't work

Hello, I have a studio 17 and at the top of my keyboard is the area that you just touch to get sound, mute, and video playing. The one button that looks like a movie cut thingy with a musical note is lit up, but i can't get the play buttons for my dvd/cd player to work, or the volume buttons.

In case anyone wants to know, I went to a different site and found a fix. if this happens to you, shut the computer down, unplug it, take the battery out, wait a few minutes, put battery back in and it should be reset
