Typing text on my 17in intel MBP problems

Hello,
My 17inch MacBook Pro '09 has developed a problem while typing text any where on the screen. Even now while I'm typing this comment my cursor will "jump" somewhere on the screen (inside the same cell only) and start typing the rest of my sentence. Big pain in the rear!! Not sure what to try to fix this. Any help would be GREAT!!

Dear Sir,

Please confirm whether there is no trojan or virus causing it to act up like this and also check whether the HOME key is not stuck down.
