My ipod touch 3g wont connect to itunes

So yesterday i downloaded the new version of itunes and the update for the ipod touch but now my ipod wont connect to the app store. ive set the wifi to factory default and that didnt help. ive even tried a hard shutdown and that still did nothing. Somebody please help me
