Usb not working

Hello,
i am worked in windows xp sevice 2002 pack 3 . but my usb port does'nt work properly. when i connect usb drive to system, there is an alert message appear. that is WINDOWS CORRUPTED. the file or directory C:\windows\system 32\config\system.LOG is corrupted and unreadable, please run the chkdsk utility. what can i do?

Hello,
Try this 1.
1)Open "My Computer" --> Right-click on your OS drive and select "Properties".
Click on "Tools" tab--->Click on "Check Now" button.
In "Check Disk" window, select "Automatically fix system file error" and "Scan for
and attempt recovery of bad sectors" options and click on "Start" button.
2)Try reinstalling USB drivers. You can download the drivers from the manufacture
website.
