Hello,

Ok my son changed my background and then everything changed the colors on other programs and my Icons. I did a system restore to an earlier date to get it back to normal and now when it rebooted there is nothing just a black screen. It says the pc wsa shut down wrong and gives me options to do safe modes or normal. I have tried all of them and still nothing. The windows says starting the curser shows up and the little blue circle like it is doing something but within like 5 sec it is a blank screen. I have a dell studio and running Win 7. Any suggestions?? I have no money to get it fixed or a new one. My son really needs it for homework!!! Thanks in advance!!

Hello,

This is because no processes are running. press control alt delete and select task manager. under Applications select "new task" type in explorer and press enter. you should see your background image and the taskbar as well as your icons.
Please do let me know about your success story.

When do I press those? cause I did try that when it came up black but nothing happened it just stays black. So do I do that before the boot screen? Or after it comes up with the start normal or safe mode?

If you have access to command prompt

try running these

START -- > RUN --->
regsvr32 wshom.ocx
regsvr32 jscript.dll
regsvr32 urlmon.dll
