Hello,

I am trying to fix a friend of mines computer for him and I have reformatted the hard drive partitions. Yes I said partitions, only to realize that I deleted the recovery partition when I did this. So I used an OEM Windows XP Media Center to reformat the HDD and was able to install the OS back on to the computer. So now I have the computer fully updated, registered, etc. and I still can't get the sound to work. I am pretty much lost now as I believe I have tried everything I know about fixing them. I am wondering if I should go out and buy these? Thanks

If you are missing any driver on your system, please make use of the Driver Detective application to find them.

Hello Juavos,

In addition to realiser's response, I must tell you that should you wish to use Driver Detective, you may be required to purchase a license because it is shareware.
I was able to finally get the hardware to get detected and once I connected it to the net it was able to download the correct drivers and now sound works. I have no idea why the hardware scan didn't pick it up the first several times I ran it; but I am just glad I got it working today.
