you can recover some if not all your pictures.
First do NOT continue to use the hard drive. Do NOT load any new programs.
Put the hard drive into another computer or buy a new harddrive for your current computer and install windows and connect the old hard drive as a slave drive (you must change the jumpers to do this).
Google "recover formated drive" and look for software to fix your problem(it will NOT be free).
I used a program from Ontrack that worked for me.
