HELP! Brand new laptop wont connect to web.

Hi, I have bought a new laptop recently and it has started to mess me around. :(. I have an Acer Aspire 5741 and am running Windows 7 with the newest IE and FF. I try to connect to web pages and at first it gave me a "500 internal server error" and then it has started to just stay blank. It wont even load home pages up. Strangely though I have found that sleeping my laptop and then waking it helps for around 30 seconds of internet time... this is how im refreshig and posting this lol... Please help, I need to get this fixed. Also I a running full and legit paid version of AVG. Recently update (I think)HELP ME!!!!! THANKSYOU!!!! xD
