Regarding a cpu

Hello,
"Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.40GHz [x86 Family 15 Model 4 Stepping 1]"

does that mean the CPUs run at 2.40GHz or that each CPU does so?

A Pentium 4 is a single core CPU in this case running at 2.4 GHz
